What a great first year of the Woburn Challenge relaunch! Thank you to everyone for participating in the online contests and helping us revive this meaningful computer science tradition. We hope you found our problems to be both fun and challenging. For the future, we hope to incorporate all the feedback you have sent us to make these challenges an even more engaging experience. April Contest

Round 3 Problems, Solutions and Results are Available!

Thanks to all of you who took part in round 3, new and returning competitors alike! This round proved to be a bit rougher than usual, both on your end and ours. To start, there were no perfect scorers in either division. Although the first three problems of both divisions had many wonderful full and partial solutions, the last problems seemed to have perplexed everybody. Indeed, getting 100% on either of them them required a fair bit of tricky preprocessing. On the other hand, we also did run into some issues with the problem statements and test data. The issues have all been addressed in comments to the corresponding problems on the judge. Although we strongly believe that these issues had a negligible effect on the overall results, we nonetheless promise to be more careful in the future.

Thank to all of you who took part in round 2, new and returning competitors alike! Problems, solutions, and test data are now available in the "Past Contests" section of this site. With our experience from the previous contest, we’ve rounded out the edges to make this one much smoother for everyone involved. We hope you enjoyed the Star Wars themed storylines that were prepared in tribute to the imminent release of The Force Awakens. While the film's plot remains to be unveiled, we dare say that we’ve at least tried our hands at some bold forecasting in problems J4 and S4.

For this round, we had 178 registered competitors from over 29 schools. There were 6 perfect scores in the senior division and 3 perfect scores in the junior division. The problems had varying difficulties, and hopefully there was something that challenged every one of you. If not, look forward to even more challenging puzzles in the rounds to come.

First Contest Reminder

Hello Challengers!

This is a reminder that our 1st contest is tomorrow (Friday, October 16, 2015) from 3:30PM - 6:30PM Eastern Time.  To participate, please:

1. Visit http://wcipeg.com/ a few minutes before the contest,

2. Login under your registered username, 

3. Click on "Contests" in the top navigation bar, and

4. Starting at 3:30PM ET, click on the "Enter" link next to your desired division (Junior or Senior).  

We recommend that you familiarize yourself with the contest rules and the guidelines on using the PEG Judge beforehand.  And if you have never used the PEG Judge before, please solve the "A plus B" sample problem discussed in the guideline to make sure you can use the PEG Judge successfully.
